A shield called atmosphere

Image
Breathing Life: Earth's Atmosphere Picture our planet wrapped in an invisible, life-giving blanket that stretches from the ground beneath your feet to the edge of space. This is the atmosphere – a dynamic, ever-changing system that's been silently supporting life for billions of years...well, thank you dear! It is retained by Earth's gravity, so that it can stay with us and most of its mass (~98%) is below  ~ 25km.

An Introduction to Planet Earth

Let's revise some basic concepts Hello and welcome to the very first post of the Geoscience section ! We will talk more about the scientific aspects of our planet: to enjoy a good hike, you should know something about what you're stepping on or what's around you. So, I'd like to start off with a little introduction to the dynamics of our atmosphere; there's so much going on yet we take too many things for granted, so I want to make a couple of things clear before diving into the more interesting facts, so you have a solid base for future posts, so nice of me. L et's start!

Hiking Through History: Villa Draghi, Monte Alto & Monte Trevisan

Image
For our next adventure, we set our sights on Monte Trevisan and Monte Alto , two stunning peaks in the Colli Euganei , with a grand start at the elegant Villa Draghi. If you’re looking for a hike that blends breathtaking views, lush nature, and a touch of historical charm, this is the one for you! The sun didn’t bother to come out this time, but at least it didn’t rain, and the hike was still enjoyable.

Monte Ricco: a tiny cone rich in beauty

Image
As our first official hike together as a group, we set out to conquer Monte Ricco in Monselice - a gorgeous hill in the southeastern part of the Colli Euganei that boasts olive trees, a fascinating hermitage at its summit, and a seriously cool geological past.  The weather wasn't the best to start with, but it got better when we passed the inversion layer that was keeping all that fog at the base; let this be a quick reminder that you can enjoy the hills all year round, but spring would be the best *wink*

Hello World, welcome to the Trail Gals!

Our first post ⛰️ Hey there, fellow explorers! We’re excited to finally launch Trail Gals, a blog where science and adventure come together on every trail. If you enjoy hiking, geosciences,  climate facts and uncovering the natural wonders of the Earth—or simply appreciate beautiful landscapes—you’re in the right place. Our goal is to share knowledge, experiences, and inspiration as we explore the outdoors. We hope you’ll join us on this journey!
